A traditional former coaching inn with a pretty beer garden has become the community heart of Lepton village.
Over the past 12 years, The Sun has undergone an extensive and sympathetic refurbishment thanks to owners Donna and Carl Brayshaw who bought the pub in 2010.
The local couple have ensured the building which dates back to 1806 retained some of its olde world charm as they introduced a contemporary feel to the public areas with their refurbishment programme.
Inside the lively bar is staffed by a friendly team and always has a great selection of Cask Marque approved ales, quality world wines, ice cold premium lagers, a large selection of speciality gins, spirits, soft drinks, and freshly ground coffee or tea. Plus, the ever-popular local ale, Bradfield Farmers Blonde, is always on tap.
A warm welcome
Experienced licencees Donna and Carl have ensured traditional values hold strong at The Sun which is the perfect example of a Yorkshire village pub.
The bar has a lovely open fire for those chilly winter nights and serves homemade pork pies and sausage rolls from nearby Thorncliffe Farm Shop all year round.
The pub regularly features live music and hosts pop-up food events with delicious Greek nights, pizza parties, and their ever-popular Caribbean BBQ special.
All the big sports events are screened in the dog-friendly bar from cricket to darts, football, Grand Prix races and rugby, whilst the cosy snug also acts as the village library and can be hired for small private parties which Donna is happy to provide catering for.
Outside is festooned with flowers all year round with plenty of tabled seating at the front with stunning views over the village to the rolling hills beyond. At the rear there is another pretty beer garden with a covered area for those not-so-sunny days. There is also a children’s play area and customer parking.
The family-friendly pub has disabled facilities too and prides itself on offering all its customers the warmest of Yorkshire welcomes. It’s located on Highgate Lane in Lepton
