This group is called ‘The Lepton Village Preservation Society’ with a constitution stating that its future would be to work as a team to improve Lepton Village for all residents, as much as was possible whilst relying on community grants, some fundraising and donations.
TLVPS, to use its short form title, has now been operating since April 2021. Since then, many projects have been completed such as bulb and flower planting in the village centre and on the recreation ground and the commissioning of three wooden planters in the centre and three name stones/planters at the boundaries of the village. TLVPS, with the aid of more volunteers has carried out weeding, litter picking and a great deal of barracking of Kirklees Council to carry out much needed repairs to buildings.
Currently, October 2022, TLVPS along with two other groups, is working to develop the recreation ground. The next project is the installation of a willow deer as an attraction.
It is a key desire of the Society to encourage volunteering in the Village leading to a sense of community involvement for all.
